Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, met March 3 with Jonathan Henick, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Uzbekistan.

The Agency Director congratulated Jonathan Henick on his appointment to a high and responsible position and assured that the constructive dialogue established between the two countries, including in combating corruption, would be continued with the support of diplomatic missions.

During the meeting, Akmal Burkhanov informed the high guest about the state policy on preventing and combating corruption, ongoing reforms, and plans for the future.

For his part, the US Ambassador highly evaluated the transformations in this area and the measures taken by the Uzbek government. He also noted significant improvements in the country’s position in international rankings and indices related to the anticorruption efforts.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working on the development of new joint projects and technical assistance programs aimed at preventing corruption, as well as studying the US experience in this area.
